PYO Berries Coming to South Village

More than 200 blackberry, raspberry, purple raspberry and blueberry plants were planted at South Village on Sunday. Lots of good eating ahead!

This new berry patch complements the field crops and greenhouse crops already on the farm. The blueberries are 8-years old plants relocated from Adam’s Berry Farm in the Intervale, so they will start producing fruit immediately. The rest of the plants may produce a little fruit this summer, but will be focused on bulking up and getting ready to produce a big harvest next year.

New House Plans from Gristmill Builders

We have another “Meet the Builder” weekend coming up on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 & 9 from 12-2pm at the Sales Center. Dave Lachtrupp from Gristmill Builders will be on hand with new house plans, renderings and pricing. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, get to know one of our preferred builders and check out what’s been happening at South Village over the past few months. We hope to see you there!

Community Pot Luck Dinner May 30

It’s been a few months since our last community pot luck and now that spring is here we figured it’s time to get together again and give a proper welcome to our new neighbors. There are 18 new South Village residents since our last pot luck dinner, so this will be a great opportunity to connect with some people you may have seen around but don’t yet know. We’re hoping for a big turnout and are expecting the usual spread of delicious food (maybe a strawberry-rhubarb pie??)

Dinner is at the Sales Center from 6-8:30, Thursday, May 30. It’s pot luck, so please bring a dish to share (beverages will be provided). We look forward to seeing you there!

One of our preferred builders, Bart Frisbie from Sterling Construction, will be on hand this Sunday to give you a sneak peek into the new home they have just completed. It’s a great opportunity to meet the builder and see the layout and construction details before the new homeowners move in on Monday. Please stop in at the Sales Center for directions. Planting Time on the Farm

Spring has finally arrived and Farmer Reese Baker is off to a quick start. The fields were chisel-plowed last week (a special technique for heavy soils) so this week Reese will be planting early season crops such as onions, kale, chard and cabbage. Tomatoes will be planted into the tunnels May 1st.

Four New Families Call South Village Home

The South Village neighborhood is growing! April has been a busy month, with our builders putting the final touches on four new homes: one on Dewey Place and three on North Jefferson. Lots of new neighbors to meet and greet!
Now that the snow has finally melted and the soil warming up, the Farm at South Village has shifted into high gear. Stop by and say hello to our new farmer, Reese Baker.
